8 November, 2004. What an idyllic drive we had today! The weather was a balmy 75 degrees with low humidity and skies were clear except for a few wispy clouds high above. We drove the 204 miles from Biloxi with the windows down. Once we got away from New Orleans, and the traffic thinned out, the driving became much less a chore.
We drove mile after mile with water on either side of us. Many of the highways were built on stilts, and around New Orleans 2 and 3 tiers was the norm. Furthur South, bridges and elevated highways connect land masses where a few decades earlier, there was only boat traffic. The modern highways and bridges really connect this area together. Next Page:
