While we had no problem getting a spot, the park was full by sun down (even though it was after Labor Day). I would recommend visiting early and late in the season. Beat the heat AND the crowds.
The main camping area (on the beach) has 63 campsites with water & electrical hookups. At the Live Oak Area, located a mile or two up hywy 174 there are 28 slots. The park boasts a gift shop with souvenirs, ice and snacks.
There is a 4 mile nature trail, ocean swimming & fishing as well as a boat landing. There is plenty of beach for either walking or bicycle riding. Also, bicycle lanes along the streets and roads make for great bike rides around the town of Edisto.
TV Channels which can be received using a roof antenna are 2, 4, 5, 7, 11, 16 19 24, 32 and 36 and there is excellent cell phone coverage as well. Grocery stores just outside the park offer just about anything you might need.
The only negative thing about our Edisto Experience was the drinking water. It is salty and is undrinkable. But there is a reverse osmosis water plant downtown where you can get free drinking water.
Edisto Beach is a protected nesting area for the Logger Head Sea Turtles. Signs all along the beach remind campers to keep their lights and camera flashes turned off. Their mating season is May thru August and signs warn of fines of up to $20,000 for molesting them.
